Scheduled

Quite a number of our servers have uptimes in excess of 200 to 300 days.

As such, on September 18, 2021, at 12:00 AM, we will be rebooting servers with uptimes exceeding 200 days and ensuring all the latest security patches and kernel updates are installed. Pruning of old kernels will also be performed.

This is done once or twice yearly to ensure that there are no surprises during any unplanned reboots. Instead, we proactively reboot servers and take this time to perform general maintenance, updates and security patches.

No action is required. The expected downtime to be expected is 30 to 60 seconds.

A few of the security updates include:
https://www.openssl.org/news/vulnerabilities-1.1.1.html
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/apr/patches/apr-1.7.0-CVE-2021-35940.patch
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2021-35940

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. You can reply to this email if you would like to delay the reboot of your system(s).

Thanks for choosing StackLinux!
